Tournaments
The Bodo Martyrs Cup Football Championship was instituted in 2015 to commemorate and pay tribute to the Bodo Martyrs of Karbi Anglong who sacrificed their lives in the long-standing movement for securing Scheduled Tribe (Hills) status protection of the rights of the Bodo Community, preservation of their education, political rights, cultural identity, and overall socio-economic development. The tournament was conceived not only as a memorial to these martyrs but also as a platform to promote sportsmanship, unity, and youth development through football. Since its inception, the championship has played a significant role in encouraging talented footballs from Karbi Anglong and neighbouring areas to participate in competitive sports, thereby fostering discipline, teamwork, and healthy community engagement. Over the years, the Bodo Martyrs Cup Football Championship has grown in popularity and stature, attracting participation from various clubs and teams across the region. It has become an important annual sporting event that strengthens local harmony, preserves the legacy of the martyrs, and contributes to the development and promotion of football and sports culture in the locality. The championship continues to serve as a symbol of remembrance, community pride, and youth empowerment while inspiring future generation to uphold the ideals and aspirations for which the martyrs make their supreme sacrifice.
